Water Company Moves into the Next Decade with SCOPE-X

CSE-Servelec Limited has recently been awarded a multi-million pound contract to develop and design an integrated SCADA management solution for South West Water.

South West Water, one of the UK’s leading water companies, provide high quality drinking water and waste water services to over 1.6 million people, throughout Cornwall and Devon and parts of Dorset and Somerset.

The new system, which replaces their existing standalone regional telemetry, will cover 1,800 telemetry sites and 120 local works sites each with their own dedicated local SCADA system”.

CSE Servelec’s solution is based on their well established telemetry and SCADA suite of software, SCOPE-X.

Using a region-wide distributed real-time database seamlessly integrated with an MS SQL long term historical database, SCOPE-X will provide South West Water with an advanced web enabled system that has been designed to allow iSCADA to provide consistent, single business-wide view of high quality data to enrich information within the wider South West Water business process, enabling accurate strategic decisions.

The SCOPE-X based system will incorporate a sophisticated Configuration Management System which will form an integral part of the iSCADA system and will ensure that all future configuration is asset centric. Enhanced asset management is a significant project driver specified by South West Water.

Neil Butler, Director, said “We are delighted that South West Water has chosen to work with CSE Servelec on this prestigious project. We are looking forward to delivering a high quality control and monitoring system which meets or exceed our client's objectives and forging a long term partnership with South West Water.”

SCOPE-X is widely used in the Utility Industries and in other wide area data acquisition applications such as the Environment Agency’s SWANTEL project and National Grid Transco’s Network Manager.

From start to finish the project is expected to take just under a year to implement.   CSE will also provide South West Water with a ten year maintenance contract.
