CSE Servelec Revive North Sea Fire & Gas System
Oil and Gas systems specialist, CSE Servelec, has been selected to provide a vital upgrade to the Inde 49/18A Platform’s Fire and Gas system.
The contract, awarded by Perenco UK Limited, will see CSE Servelec decommission the existing 25 year old system and transfer all I/O and functionality to new Solid State F&G equipment.
Over the last few years, due to age of equipment, general support for the platform’s Fire and Gas system, both in terms of hardware, software and ability of 3rd parties has diminished considerably. Perenco has found it increasingly difficult to source replacement parts for the system, and hence took a decision to upgrade the system and field equipment to enhance the overall integrity, reliability and maintainability of the system.
The project will support a single stage changeover strategy where the existing equipment is de-powered and removed from the existing equipment bays, and the replacement equipment is then installed prior to site commissioning.
With this latest project, CSE Servelec continues to build upon its experience of legacy system change-outs, providing reliable, diverse control and safety systems with minimum disruption to the client’s operation. This includes 2 very successful previous projects for the change-out of complete ESD and F&G systems on the Davy and Bessemer platforms, completed with maximum shutdown durations of only 12 hours. This was achieved not in small part by CSE Servelec working as an integrated member of the client’s engineering team and taking a very proactive approach to the system requirements and implementation.
CSE Servelec has operated in the oil industry for 30 years, successfully designing and delivering major systems to blue-chip companies, such as Perenco, both on and offshore, in the UK and overseas.
Perenco is an independent petroleum, exploration and production company, currently operating in thirteen countries across Europe, Africa and South America.
