CSE Servelec’s RiO is Solution to
Trust-Wide Unity
CSE Servelec’s RiO is a web-based electronic patient record
system that will help Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland
Mental Health NHS Trust to achieve synchronisation of their working
practices and client care. The Trust was established on 1 April
2001, as a result of merging mental health services from two separate
organisations. A care record system was required to integrate and
unify all client data into a single source of clinical and demographic
information.
RiO can be accessed with just a standard web browser, enabling
users across the wide geographical area of the Trust to simultaneously
access records relating to the care of their patients. “As
RiO is purely web-based, any Trust PC is ready to access it, therefore
deployment and support costs are minimised. RiO’s bandwidth
requirements are also very low, which is a major benefit, particularly
for remote and mobile users. The system is intuitive to use, reducing
training costs and making it universally accessible to staff of
all disciplines,” says Darren McKenna, Head of IM&T at
the Trust.
RiO’s modern technology enables the Trust to monitor Key
Performance Indicators and to meet its clinical information requirements.
The system will also support the Trust’s Care Pathways, enabling
healthcare professionals to use it at any time and wherever they
need to, either for support at the point of care, or to check a
patient’s record between visits. Access to information is
strictly controlled, to maintain confidentiality and security.
