New Web Based System Provides Mental Welfare
for Scotland with Paperless Solution
CSE Servelec have recently been awarded a 7 year contract for the
provision of a web based Integrated Information Management System
to the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland. The system will be
accessible through an intuitive and easy to use web browser interface,
providing the commission with a customisable and flexible tool to
view all information.
The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland is an independent organisation
with the responsibility of protecting the welfare and rights of
individuals with mental disorder including those with learning disabilities
and dementia. Other duties include investigations, reports, information
and advice in terms of the current and future mental health legislation
in Scotland.
Les Nicholson, Project Manager, Information Systems Mental Welfare
Commission for Scotland commented that “The Mental Welfare
Commission for Scotland are delighted to be working with CSE Servelec
to develop an Integrated Information Management System to meet our
IT needs resulting from the introduction of the Mental Health (Care
& Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003. The system will afford the
Commission not only far greater integration of and accessibility
to information but also significant process benefits through substantial
automation of routine tasks.
The Commission chose CSE Servelec on a number of grounds: understanding
and experience of our environment; an excellent product in RiO upon
which our system will be based; and value for money. In addition
throughout the procurement phase CSE Servelec proved themselves
to be an organisation we could feel confident working with.”
CSE Servelec’s solution offers Commissioners a collection
of dynamic and interactive tools which will provide improved management
control, production of quality information, flexible information
sharing, and remote access in a structured secure environment.
The system will also allow the Commission to operate within a paperless
environment, even allowing Commissioners to take secure electronic
documentation on visits or other out of office activities where
connection to the system is not possible. SSL technology is employed
to facilitate external links to the application server, therefore
providing secure remote access to the system.
The solution is based on CSE Servelec’s RiO software which
is widely used within the NHS and other care organisations. CSE
Servelec specialises in the implementation of large-scale information
management systems for both public and private sectors. CSE Servelec
has considerable specialist technical expertise in software development
and systems integration, combined with over 27 years of experience
in project implementation and long term customer care.
Alan Stubbs, Managing Director of CSE-Servelec Limited says: “We
are delighted that the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland has
chosen to work with CSE Servelec on this prestigious project. We
are investing significantly in growing our business within the Mental
Health Community in Scotland and this project is of great importance
to that strategy.”
