Met Office Goes Live with Global Weather Monitoring System

The Met Office, one of the world’s leading providers of environmental and weather-related services, has gone live with their new Meteorological Monitoring System (MMS).

The new system, which replaces older legacy equipment, will allow data from meteorological sensors to be gathered and stored at the Met Office HQ in Exeter.  This will allow real-time environmental data to be collected more effectively.

The MMS will revolutionise the way the Met Office collects and disseminates its environmental data.

The development of MMS has been a joint effort between CSE Servelec and Campbell Scientific.

CSE Servelec’s renowned telemetry and SCADA suite of software, SCOPE-X, will act as the backbone of the system.  This, combined with weather stations supplied by Campbell Scientific, will provide the Met Office with a truly integrated business solution.

The first phase of this major refurbishment is to upgrade the Met Office ‘Observing Network’, both in the UK and overseas.

This phase will take approximately 12 months to complete.
